Home > EasyJet > 2001 > ReviewTaken May 2001 from London Gatwick to GenevaThis flight had the usual excellent EasyJet service. However there this trip left a nasty taste in the mouth. I flew from Dublin to LGW on Aer Lingus (on frequent flyer points) that morning in order to take the cheap EasyJet flight to Geneva. You may know that Ireland and the UK have a common travel area, meaning that no passports are required, at least for EU citizens. On exiting the special "From Ireland" channel I was grilled for 10 minutes by an idiot "official" on where I was going to, the reason for this, had I ever lived in the UK etc. My passport (required to go to Switzerland) was then requested and he went off to "perform a routine check". I am a very frequent flyer, especially to the Far East. When he returned he waved my passport at me and asked why there were a lot of stamps on my passport, why had I been to Korea, and what exactly my job was. This has never happened to me in LHR (through it 30 times in the last year) so I suspect that the facist Kent police have some problem with the Irish as others that I have talked to have had similar experiences in this airport. Do not go through LGW ! | ||
