Taken 28 February 2009 from Panama City (Paitilla-Marcos A. Gelabert) - PAC to Bocas del Toro - BOC

The airline is a local product called Aeroperlas.

A 45 minute flight from Panama City's domestic airport, which is basic but functional. Check in was quick if a little haphazard.

The plane turned out to be a Shorts SD3-60, which seats about 50 or so and looks like a container with wings. Inside it felt even more like a container, being extremely boxy and high for its width.

No need for service on such a short flight, but the FA provided water and soft drinks. The plane seemed to rise extremely slowly after take-off and reached cruising height just in time to begin a descent.

The seats were comfortable for such a short flight. It left 20 minutes ahead of schedule and so arrived early. The pilot was clearly flying around very black storm clouds, which towered over the plane, but it was a smooth journey.

Bocas del Toro airport is functional and arrival and departure were smooth.

The return flight also left early and was on the same plane - I recognised a scar on the paintwork. The plane appeared to be well maintained and I would have no hesitation in using them again.
