Taken 15 May 2009 from Toronto, ON (Lester B. Pearson International Airport) - YYZ to Varadero - VRA

The service on the flight was great. The service on the ground was okay. When we arrived in Varadero, everything was satisfactory. Our flight arrived early and our suitcases were there and in a satisfactory condition. When we returned to Toronto, our suitcases were late to get on to the carousel. When they started to come up out of the conveyor. All of us there were astounded that the first ones to come through had been completely opened. I saw at-least 10 that had been opened and tampered with the contents. There was a pause in the process and after a few minutes they started coming out again. To my dismay, the second of my suitcases finally came out and it had been opened with it being closed again after someone had broken off the lock. The plastic bags I had put our shoes and sandals in was sticking through the zipper. All of our personal products had been opened and taken out of their plastic pouches. One had been left open and it leaked all over my wife's clothes. There was a supervisor from Sunwing there talking to another passenger. I walked over to show her our suitcase and she promptly said that Sunwing does not cover zippers. I said what does that have to do with me, my suitcase was broken into and the contents taken out and moved around. With a odd voice she asks if anything is missing. I told her I not sure, also was I supposed to open my suitcase there on the airport floor and take summary of everything. She then proceded to tell me that it was customs that opened it up. Customs does not open suitcases without you being present. I got that from the Customs supervisor who just happened to be at the exit area. I saw the one gentleman's suitcases when they were being loaded on to the plane in Cuba. They were intact and zippered shut. When we got them in Toronto, opened and tampered with. There were at-least a dozen passengers on our Flight WG691 that had this happen to them. The staff were just giving a sheet that had what was included or not covered by the airline. There was a number to call and give information.
