Taken 12 July 2009 from Manchester, England (Ringway International Airport) - MAN to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands (Reina Sofia-Tenerife Sur) - TFS

Bargain fares for July (high season) from Manchester to Tenerife and back after eight nights, booked via the easyJet website. Did not pre-book hold luggage, but did pay the extra for speedy-boarding. Having packed all my belongings into the regulation sized cabin bag, and pre-printed boarding pass, I did not even arrive at Terminal 3 until around 45 minutes before departure, which was 15:30. Security was very quiet and we breezed through and straight to the gate, where boarding was announced straight away. Being a speedy-boarders we were called first and we were able to take the seats at the front of the brand-new Airbus A320 (G-EZTF). Leg-room here is of course very generous, but having said that it was fine in the standard seat rows, as we sat at the back on our homeward journey. The crew were polite and efficient in getting everyone seated and ready for departure. They all looked immaculate in their uniform, which is much more grown-up than the previous one. The flight deck crew gave us an in-depth briefing about our route and a flight time of 4hrs 20mins.

After take-off the crew passed through the cabin with champagne and chocolates to purchase. After this service the main drinks, snacks and sandwiches were made available for sale. Bacon baguettes, cheese and ham toasties and cheese and tomato panini's were on the hot food menu. Chicken or cheese ploughmans were the cold options and all very reasonably priced. The aircraft did not have in-flight entertainment, but knowing this in advanced we had our own reading material. Duty-free was also available for sale, after which the drinks and snacks were passed through twice again before we landed in Tenerife ten minutes early, after a very smooth flight.

The return journey was a mid-day departure from Tenerife and was not as full as the journey out. So we had a row of seats between the two of us. Apart from the crew and and aircraft being different (G-EZTE), the level of service was exactly the same as we had experienced the week before. Good value for money and does not feel like a low-cost airline.
