Although BAA have done a lot of work at Terminal 3 where Virgin fly from, it is still quite a grotty terminal. Virgin has done away with the Easy Jet style check in and replaced with lines for each check in but not for specific airports, in my opinion this was a mistake as in the line we chose, everyone was having problems and took an age, all the other lines disappeared quickly whereas ours was still 10 deep. It would have been better to have the one queue going to which ever check in was available. Outbound flight was 45 minutes late in departing due to one elderly passenger who got lost in the terminal, although the IFS and captain kept us abreast of the situation. We still managed to land on time in SFO. Good inflight service as always and the on Demand video only seems to get better each time I fly with Virgin. Good meals and glad to see that you still get the hot towel on board. Homeward flight departed on time and arrived 45 minutes early in Heathrow, although as always with Heathrow baggage takes an age to reach the belts and seems to be thrown onto the belts, several cases not making it around the first turn! I never expect much from the meals on an inbound US flight, for some reason the US Caterers are obsessed with Egg, Fish and Mushrooms and as someone with severe allergies to all 3, the food always disappoints. When flying in Premium I always hope for an airbus with the 3 seats across the middle rather than the 747 with 4, unfortunately this flight was the 747 and both times was in the inner seats of the 4 with both outer passengers immediately going to sleep, rendering toilet breaks impossible! Both flights completely full, which is good to see in this current economic climate, Virgin has a good name and are a really good airline, although maybe it is time to review the US caterers. | ||
