Taken June 2001 from Manchester to Heraklion, Crete

Well this flight was a comedy of errors - mostly not due to the airline though.

The flight departed 7 hours late and many passengers were complaining as usual (I wasn't - I got to watch planes at Manchester for 7 hours!!), until the pilot explained that the aircraft had been required to assist another aircraft in emergency and had to divert to another airport, therefore passengers had to be bussed to the aircraft.

We flew on the Airtours Boeing 757-225 G-JALC, an 18 year old veteran and one of the earliest 757's built!! - and once inside the stewardess' were obviously standby crew as they were being as polite as possible whist trying to stow twisted trollies into the gallery area and when unsuccessful slapped red stickers saying something along the lines of "BUST" on them - unfortunately nobody had the guts to put one on the left engine as I know a 757 engine should not sound like that did - and when I visited the cockpit, something to do with the left throttle being at around 30% power gives you even more cause for concern!!!

This was the fifth flight I've ever flown with AIH and the only one so far when any problems were encountered - at least I got there - the return trip was to come!!!
