Taken August 2001 from Keflavik (Reykjavik) to London Stansted

A highly unusual delay.

The computers were down at Keflavik, and so when two passengers didn't show up for the flight after checking in, they were unsure whether or not the passengers had luggage in the hold. Therefore, we all had to get off to identify our luggage, and put it back on the plane. At least we were safe in the knowledge while flying the airline hadn't lost it!

On the other hand, quite why passengers would decide not to fly after checking in at an airport in the middle of nowhere in Iceland at 2am I don't know.

Which leads me onto another point. The Iceland route is a great service to a country that I strongly recommend for people to visit, and I sincerely hope the route returns again next summer. However, it flies at a ridiculous time, leaving Stansted at 23:15 and reurning from Keflavik at 02:15, landing back at Stansted at 06:15. This is very uncomfortable for the return leg, and a day service would be far preferable.

The delay of just over an hour wasn't too bad considering my last trip with Go was a 6 hour delay coming back from Faro. However, the outbound leg of my trip landed in Keflavik over half an hour early, which was impressive.

As a no frills airline there wasn't any real service, but I wasn't expecting that. I flew with them because they are considerably cheaper than Icelandair, and I live much closer to Stansted than I do to Heathrow.
