Home > Air India > 2001 > ReviewTaken January 2001 from London Heathrow to New York JFKThe 747-400 was a bit dirty on the outside which is a bit off putting and the red painted window surounds were a first for me. Inside was also a little unusual in that it appeared to have 1970s Vimura wallpaper on the walls with matching seat covers. The entertainment system was also from the 70s, a complete waste of time. The last time I had to use headphones like the ones supplied by Air India was in the Sheffield Royal Hospital, and that was closed in 1976! The drinks service was average at best, but Kingfisher beer is superb. The food was probably the best I have eaten in any class of airline, but I like curry, and this was top drawer. Leg room was more than enough, by how much do airlines vary their seat spacings? And the seats comfortable. It was lunchtime flight and food and drinks were served and out of the way in a couple of hours. The crew then pulled down the window blinds and dimmed the lights even though it was at latest mid afternoon. It was just an excuse for the crew to disappear for four hours and do nothing. Terminal 4 at JFK is brand new and a dream to get out of and also as good a place to have to wait for a flight as any. The return flight was about the same as the outbound, but drinks were much more freely available which for me, always makes for a better flight. For the price, this Curry House in The Sky takes some beating, if only for the food and decor. Would look forward to using them again. | ||
