Taken March 2001 from Ezeiza, Buenos Aires to Miami MIA

HAHAHA!!!

Okay, get this. Me and my wife are leaving Ezeiza, Buenos Aires for a midnight Miami direct flight.

We are in the process of checking in the luggage when we notice that the check-in officer is in a bit of a haste... so we politely asked if he was on his way home soon (you know, for the day). And he almost with an eerie calm explained that in exactly three and a half minutes they were going on strike... *woa*

So he hurriedly checked us in and gave us seats by the emergency door (I'm 6' 4" tall mind you) which kicked major a**.

So, once we got to the tarmac/lounge/waiting area, we noticed that slowly, the check-in officers and AA staff was slowly disappearing.

The time for our flight came up (2:30 AM) and there was NOTHING. No crew, no check in, no announcements, no PLANE.

Well, about 3:00 AM, the air marshalls got tired of the crap and decided they were going to take over the operation. So, one air marshall came to our gate and checked us in, put us in a bus and we were on the air later.

Kudos to the airport crew of Ezeiza for working hard at below-standard pay and more kudos to the AA staff. Even they "stood us up", they had the courage to stand up for their rights to a better pay. So I didn't mind the hassle.

BUT BUT BUT....

Please, please get some new airplanes. Their 747 Jumbos were manufactured in 1966, and they are showing their age, believe me.

And, it would not be a bad idea to remove about four or six rows to add some legroom... I felt sad seeing other people with their knees in their chins.

However, the crew aboard was really cool, relaxed and confident. I got two servings of breakfast (there were plenty of trays that never got served), and had a chance to fly comfortably and stretch my legs.

Kudos to AA for making a good effort in times of hardship.
