However, I do feel Air 2000 have taken this to an extreme. The aircraft was a 757, with 3+3 seating layout throughout. Very tight seating pitch (the meanest I have ever come across), which was uncomfortable even for those of average height. Wires and springs in seat pockets exacerbated the discomfort felt in the knees. The in-flight magazine and the announcements on board all stress that Air 2000 is concerned about passenger safety. They do not really mention comfort, as presumably it makes the passengers restless. In fact, the captain's invitation that passengers should 'sit back and relax' promted gales of laughter from throughout the aircraft. There was something of an altercation on board as one passenger lost her temper when the person in front of her reclined, as this hurt her knees. The cabin crew took the view that passengers had the right to recline their seats. It was pointed out to them that this was not really possible in most cases without causing distress to those behind you. Their response to this was (to paraphrase) 'if you don't like it, you can always fly scheduled.' When pressed, the senior steward did acknowledge that the seating pitch 'made his life a misery', and he wished that the airline would increase it. He advised everyone to complain. Entertainment on board was OK, though as other reviewers have mentioned, there were long gaps in the audio programmes. Some of the video screens were defective, one in particular kept flickering and did not display anything in green. Food was above average for a charter flight, however, the bar was understocked and expensive. Unfortunately, the service was universally surly and unhelpful. | ||
