Home > US Airways > 2002 > ReviewTaken May 2002 from Atlanta, Georgia - Charlotte to London GatwickWhere do we start? The flight from Atlanta to Charlotte went well, but we were in the air for such a short time that there wasn't much that could go wrong. From Charlotte to Gatwick we were on an Airbus 330 and it was like being stuffed into a sardine can (not a comfortable feeling for an eight hour flight). There were those intimate moments we shared with the people in the seat in front of us when they insisted on reclining their seats fully and wound up sleeping with their heads in our laps (it made the entertainment a bit hard to see). During dinner service a flight attendant came back to us to ask if the lasagna had any meat in it because another passenger wanted to know. Obviously they aren't informed what they are serving except to say it's chicken or pasta (apparently all they serve on this flight since it was what was offered both ways). Breakfast (or an excuse for breakfast) was handed out in the form of a banana nut muffin and orange juice. When we asked about a replacement for the muffin since I'm allergic to bananas we were told it was what they had but they would look for something else and get back to us. It was the last we saw of our attendant. The return flight was made even more interesting by the ticketing people who had assigned separate seats to roughly half the couples on our flight including one lady whose eleven year old son was assigned a seat at the other end of the plane. When the gate reps arrived they were inundated by a huge crowd of people whose only sin was to want to sit with the people they were traveling with. We were told we could ask the couple who were sitting between us if they would move to one end or the other of the group of four seats. I was so fed up by that point that I told the gentleman that he was the one being paid to do things like that and he did finally take care of the situation. This entire situation was caused by the fact that US Air refused to allow anyone to phone ahead to make seating arrangements. While the trip to England was great, the flights were by no means the best part of the trip. Would I fly this airline again? How much are they willing to pay me?? | ||
