Taken July 2002 from Manchester to Larnaca, Cyprus

After reading previous reviews of Air Scandic on this website, I was a little wary of travelling with them to Cyprus.

Our outbound flight was delayed an hour due to the late arrival of the inbound aircraft to Manchester. As soon as the A300 had been cleaned we were called for boarding and made our way to the gate in Terminal 1. For those people who have not been on Air Scandic's website or who have not seen either of the airline's 2 aircraft before, the first thing that will strike you is the awful aircraft livery. It seems that the airline ran out of cash and had let someone's 3 year old loose with a box of crayons when designing the corporate logo! Visit their website (www.airscandic.com) - it seems the same 3 year old produced that as well!!

The aircraft itself is a 1984 Airbus A300, it is very very basic, and if you've travelled on My Travel or Britannia recently you will not believe the lack of in flight entertainment or the 1980's decor of the aircraft. Air Scandic still have the 2 original 'whiteboard' screens to show their in flight movies/tv. This means that if you fly during the day you'll struggle to see what is on the screen. To add insult to injury the Cabin Crew started the movie, then straight away decided to do a drinks round with a trolly and stood in front of our seats for the first 15 minutes of the movie. There are no radio channels and no in flight magazine.

We were served a satisfactory meal both outbound and on the way home to Manchester.

I do not feel that Air Scandic are fit to serve as a charter airline. They need to refit their aircraft (seating, decor, in flight entertainment), and purchase more aircraft so that when one of them is delayed it will not automatically delay the next flight.

Air Scandic will get you to your destination, but you'd get 100% more value for your money by flying with, JMC, My Travel, Air 2000, Excel, or Britannia!!!
