Taken September 2002 from Manchester to Kos

The outbound flight was delayed by 3 hrs 15 mins, during which time we were called to the departure gate then advised to return in 45 minutes twice, and advised that it was a technical fault. There was no announcement made around the airport so the only way to establish what was happening was to return repeatedly to the gate. When the flight was boarding this was not announced either, which resulted in some persons not returning to the departure gate promptly.

After this long wait in the airport we were not offered so much as a drink of water! This makes the flight not only very uncomfortable, but also potentially dangerous!

As the flight was due to depart at 8.15am the in-flight meal was due to be breakfast, but after mid-day it seemed a little inappropriate to serve a very very dried up breakfast of baked beans (which had obviously been kept warm for this time). Again no complimentary drink was offered to compensate for the delay and poor quality of 'food' which was served.

On deperture we were advised that it was a technical fault and we would be given more information later, but nothing further was mentioned.

I understand that delays are sometimes unavoidable and that safety is more important that timekeeping, but there are better ways of handling this situation.

At check-in we were told that there were no seats next to each other and so were given seats either side of the aisle, on take-off there were still numerous rows of empty seats, that could not have been a mistake?

The air in the cabin during the flight, in my experience appeared to be very poor quality, hot, very dry and I wonder about the oxygen content...

The overall flight experience was most unpleasant and I believe that the management of this company should be tackled about these problems.
