Home > Aerocontinente > ReviewTaken April 2002 from Miami to Buenos AiresI flew into Buenos Aires in early April and returned to Miami in late July. Aerocontinente offered me an incredible price on their 120 day ticket - half what other airlines wanted for a savings of about $700. Excellent value. The flight into Buenos Aires was fine. It took long due to all the stopovers, but I don't complain. The flight back was another story. No airline staff over the phone in Buenos Aires had any information about my return flight. They only said the airline was having difficulties and many flights were being cancelled. I went to the airport the day of my scheduled departure at the hour I was told to go. There were no Aerocontinente staff until two hours later and they sent me to the airline TACA desk to see if they would fly me to Lima. I was treated rudely by some TACA staff, but after all I wasn't their customer. I flew into Lima and of course there was no way to get me to Miami. I was put in a hotel and was told that the airline would pick me up the next day at six in the morning for a flight to Miami via Caracas on Aeropostal. I woke up at seven the next morning realizing that I had been forgotten. I could not spend another day in Lima as I had an important meeting the next day in Miami. I knew Aerocontinente had no flights that day to Miami so they would have to fight to fly me on another carrier. The hotel manager called and called the airline and no one answered. I took a taxi to the airport and was able to leave on a flight to Miami via San Jose, Costa Rica on Lacsa. I was the last to board the Lacsa flight and asked about my luggage that I left with Aerocontinente the day before. They were nowhere to be found. Lacsa worked with Aerocontinente to finally find my luggage to my satisfaction. I finally made it to Miami with mixed feelings about the experience. I was treated nicely in Lima by staff members that wanted to help, but that had little or no information about what was going on. The airline definitely has a problem dispersing information to its employees. I made the best of my stay in Lima as that day was Peru's independence day and I took a personal tour of the festive city. But Aerocontinente really needs to get it together. | ||
