Taken July 1999 from East Midlands to Bodrum

I love this airline! The MD-88 aircraft had no inflight entertainment system, but the flights were entertaining enough without one!

To get on and off the aircraft you had to climb up through the back of it between the two engines. When we arrived in Manchester the staircase was covered in ice! The safety demonstration and safety cards were both in Turkish, which was quite amusing.

The only thing separating us from the cockpit was a curtain, and we occasionally got a panoramic view out of the front window!

On the way back we had the pleasure of sitting right at the back. The engine was about 6 inches from the window!

Anyone could smoke, anywhere and at any time, and the flight attendants occasionally went to the back of the cabin and sat on the door step to have a crafty smoke.

I seem to remember that there were some communication problems between ourselves and the flight attendants, because they didn't speak much English and we only knew how to say "hello" in Turkish!

Once you had established which beverage you wanted to purchase from the trolley, you could barter the price down.

Leg room was greater than average and there were only 5 seats across the cabin. The meal was interesting as well - ham sandwiches that had been lovingly prepared by hand and wrapped in cling-film!

Onur Air, you are fantastic! I would like to fly Onur Air again in the future, they are so much more interesting than all the other boring British charter airlines I've flown with. They can make 4.5 hours seem like 10 minutes, and I laughed so much that my sides ached.
