My flight on JAL (Japan Airlines) was easily the best flight I've ever had in my life. For the 13 hours from Chicago O'Hare to Osaka Japan (Kansai International Airport), I was treated to luxury class food and service that would put most 1st class domestic flights to shame.

Meals and snacks were served frequently, about twice as many as I was expecting. Before each meal/snack, a flight attendent would bring out hot moist rolled towels (one for each passenger) for you to clean your hands on before the food was served - cleanliness to the extreme!

Each meal/snack was served on specially designed trays that used ceramic heater pads to keep the hot items hot and plastic sections to keep the cooler items cold. The food itself was of incredible quality and tasted wonderfully. I've never had airline food that good - and probably won't until I can fly JAL again.

In the bathrooms, the stainless steel paneling held an assortment of compartments in which were tooth brushes and small tubes of toothpaste. Shaving supplies were on hand and the facilities themselves were cleaned regularly (mid-flight).

Entertainment. Every seat had a small LCD TV and mini-entertainment center mounted into the seat back in front of you. The removable arm-rest remote control flipped over to function as a Super-Nintendo controller for some simpler games. Multiple movies were running constantly and a variety of Japanese domestic movies and current American hollywood films were showing. Music selections were mostly in Japanese, but were very entertaining to listen to even though I could not yet speak the language (some of their music was sung in English or had English verses mixed in with the Japanese).

The onscreen mapping functions in the entertainment unit provided realtime updates as to the progress and destination of the flight. It was very impressive.

The tickets were expensive, but all in all this was the best flight I've ever been on - no comparison. I'm looking forward to flying with them again.
