Taken April 2003 from Manchester to Mahon

Flight was from Manchester via Gatwick with a crew change at Gatwick. Landing at Gatwick seemed very heavy, but there was a quick turn-around and the return flight back went to Manchester first.

One major problem was that having checked in early and with seats for the four of us allocated together in Row 8, we were told half an hour prior to boarding that we were being bounced from the flight. The airline rep was rude and arrogant, simply stating that we had no entitlement to fly despite having checked in early and despite having 2 young children. She went on to say that Astraeus took no responsibility for this and that our travel company would have to sort out the problem of how we were going to get back to the UK.

Needless to say there was some disagreement on our part, but it was only as we attempted to board that we had our row 8 boarding cards taken from us by the Spanish passport control officer and new cards issued reseating us around the aircraft so that we were no longer together.

We would prefer not to fly this airline again until they sort out their customer sevice.

One poor man with a broken leg was told to leave the aircraft despite having been through check in and boarding control, as they would not fly anyone with such an immobility problem - so much for disability rights!! Offloading him and his bags delayed the flight significantly.
