DBV-ZAG, early morning flight, lasting just under an hour. Priority check-in, but a grumpy airport clerk who checked luggage straight to Pula. Business class board through the front of the plane, a spotless A 319, with four rows of blue business class seats configured 2 X 2,seat 1A with a drinks table in between.

Cabin crew cold but efficient, offered pre-take off orange juice in a real glass, followed by a box containing a chocolate, and a croatian speciality spice biscuit. Detailed safety video shown on drop down LCD screens, take-off early.

Once airborne, service consisted of a pastry filled with apricot, another chocolate, drinks and fresh coffee, served on china with cotton napkins. Service quite acceptable but not overly friendly. Stunning views of the Croatian islands and an on-time landing.

Zagreb airport is old and boring - with no lounge facilities for Domestic Business pax. Given use of Diners Club lounge - very small. Picked up my boarding pass at the business class desks - friendly staff and changing seat allocations was no bother.

Boarding a little late for the ZAG-PULA sector, another A319 with 3 rows of C class, sat in seat 3A. Less friendly crew on this flight, served pre-takeoff orange juice, and, once airborne, two open sandwiches of cheese and turkey plus drinks.

On times landing after only 30 minutes, baggage arrived quickly.

Croatia Airlines is a great small airline - cheap and reliable service. The flexibility of Business class is worth a little extra - and beats taking the bus for domestic journeys any day!
