Taken May 2003 from New Delhi to Frankfurt

Good performance by Lufthansa on the Delhi-Frankfurt route. Speedy check in and a good lounge service. Nothing exceptional like Emirates, but quite decent.

New impeccably mantained B 747 400. It was a full business class. Seats were quite decent. Lufthansa does not have the flat beds of BA, CX or SQ, however the seats are still reasonably comfy and do allow you to catch some sleep.

Quite frankly, they are far better than some of those flat beds that do not fully recline and have you falling out as you are in awkward downhill sloping position. Are you listning Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic? Reasonable leg room and far more than some others like Emirates.

Cabin crew were efficient and friendly without being too intrusive. They responded to requests when asked and left you alone to sleep for most of this overnight flight. Quite frankly a relief from the overbearing diabetic sweetness of SIA.

Food and catering was of a high quality with two meals with 4 choices of hot meals. Food was very tasty with very large portions. I consider myself to be with a fairly healthy appetite but I could not come close to finishing their meals.

A snack buffet with drinks was laid out and one could help themselves any time during the flight.

Only sore point was the in-flight entertainment. We had personal TV sets, but with three choices of movies, which were not even on demand and one had to wait for the cycles. One has to say that this is very disappointing given that airlines such as SIA have a choice over 10 movies on demand, even in economy class. Definitely a point for Lufthansa to improve on as it definitely is a tarnish on an otherwise high quality airline.

Luggage arrived swiftly in Frankfurt and I was out of the airport within less 20 minutes of arriving. Overall, a good flying experience with Lufthansa at a not so steep price.

Definitely one of the most reliable carriers tommorow and far better than those flying Yankee cattle trucks... take note US airlines.
