Taken August 2003 from Los Cabos to Los Angeles LAX

Flew on Aeromexico from Los Cabos to Mexico D.F., and then from Mexico D.F. to LAX. The Los Cabos to Mexico D.F. flight was uneventful, but the flight from Mexico D.F. to LAX was the worst flight I have ever been in my entire life. This flight was delayed for over 3 hours due to flooding on the runways, but the service provided by ground personnel, and flight attendants before departure was as bad as it could be.

On 08/26/2003, I arrived in Mexico D.F. to connect with my flight to LAX. The layover was supposed to be about 3 hours. When we were getting close to board the plane, the airport was shut down because the runways flooded (drainage is poor at this airport). This is when the airline started to fail us. First they told us that the plane would depart from Gate 19, then they changed to Gate 35, and then to Gate 22. There they kept us without any news as to when the planes would depart. They only said that delay was not their fault.

This flight (AM490) was also a code share flight with Lufthansa. The Lufthansa people were there for their passenger providing them with refreshments and snacks. However, it was not explained in the beginning that the refreshments were not for Aeromexico passengers. There were many people that were upset about this because the feeling was that AM did not take care of their passengers. Some AM passengers were in the line to get refreshments, but were turned away by AM and Lufthansa ticket agents at the gate, some were children that were waiting for the now 3 hour delayed flight.

Finally, when we were able to board the plane, my daughter that suffers from an stomach motility disorder immediately felt ill and needed to vomit. I found a barf bag, but when I asked Mr. Gonzalez, a flight attendant with AM, he yelled at me "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I asked him for some towels to clean my daughter's vomit from her clothes and face. My request was curtly denied by this flight attendant. I had to press the call button several times to get some help. Finally another flight attendant came to the rescue, and provided some comfort to my daughter, as well as towels to get her cleaned up. She offered her some soda to settled her stomach.

I think that AM treated us like cattle, and had no sympathy for some of us that got stuck in Los Cabos during Hurricane Ignacio. They lied to us when trying to secure space to return home, and to add insult to injury, we had to suffer the humiliation of being mistreated by Mr. Gonzalez, specially when we were talking about an 8 year old child.

I would never fly Aeromexico again!
