Taken January 2003 from Los Angeles to Kuala Lampuur

Very good. It was my first flight of this length - twenty-something hours. I continued with Malaysian Airlines on their flight to Chennai (Madras).

It stops in Taiwan. Very punctual. The flight was full. It was a 747.

The cabin crew were very nice, they worked very hard and the meals were excellent.

There is an in-flight entertainment system at each seat. The screen is very close to you, but they had several recent movies to choose from, as well as music and news.

Leg room was average - I'm 5'8".

I bought my ticket from a "bucket shop" and was pleasantly surprised with this airline. It was a good deal. I had flown discount airlines from Montreal to London before and had much worse experiences. Less leg room, delays, etc.

Because I was continuing on to Chennai with Malaysian Airlines that evening, I was also given a voucher by the airline for a room for a hotel near the Kuala Lampuur airport (with free shuttle service) and dinner. The dinner was a buffet and very good. It was a good place to get freshened up. My travel agent hadn't told me about the voucher so it was a welcome surprise after a long intercontinental flight.

Malaysian Airlines also allows free stopovers in the price of the ticket.

I also changed the date of my return flight from India back to Canada. I didn't pay a penalty and was issued a new ticket by a travel agent in the city where I was at the time (not even my city of departure - Chennai). It was good service, but there was a delay of a few days for the airline to confirm availability on all my return flights. But it all worked out without a hitch.
