Taken September 2003 from Shanghai to Frankfurt

A full flight on a 747-400. When I asked for an emergency exit seat, I was told that because some business class passengers would have to be downgraded due to an overbooking situation, I would have to wait until boarding time. Surely enough, during boarding my seat was changed to that of my choice, an emergency exit one! As a result, legroom was unlimited and the overall comfort was very good. For the rest of the economy passengers, however, the 11 hour long flight must have seemed endless due to the very limited legroom.

The 2 meals were acceptable, albeit spartan. A small snack was offered during the movies consisting of either noodles or a sandwich. Frequent drink patrols throughout the flight.

Good movies on the main screens. Lufthansa should quickly install back-seat individual screens in Economy, but only if these do not further decrease the seat comfort.
