Taken October 2003 from Cardiff (CWL) to Nuremberg (NUE) via Amsterdam (AMS)

CWL - AMS KL1066 Fokker 70 (F70) PH-WXA

5th October 2003 14:50.

This was my return journey to Nuremberg (see earlier review) and I had very high expectations following the great service on my outbound flights. My expectations were fulfilled on this flight from Cardiff to Amsterdam.

We followed pretty much the same route as we had 2 days before. I had a fantastic view of Heathrow as we passed over it at 28,000 feet. We crossed the channel & landed in Amsterdam on time. Landing was a little bumpy as there was some low level cloud. Service was the same as on my other flights. The crew were really helpful and pleasant with an excellent command of English. The captain spoke to us a little earlier in the flight this time, but we were still well into the flight by the time he did.

AMS - NUE KL1891 Fokker 50 (F50) PH-LXT

5th October 2003 19:15.

After another easy transfer in AMS, which is a lovely airport by the way, I was on the bus to board the final aircraft of my trip when the handling agent came on board and told us there was a technical problem with the aircraft and we would be delayed. She told us further information would be available at 19:20. She had no information at this time and so we had to wait until 19:40 when we eventually boarded the aircraft in a torrential rain shower. The rain was so bad that we were asked to take our seats and stow our hand luggage later so that people could get out of the rain. The captain then came on the public address system and explained that they had had to change the aircraft as the one scheduled could not be fixed. We had now missed our slot though so eventually took off an hour late.

We were kept continually updated by the flight crew during the flight & I thought the delay was handled very professionally. In flight service was the same as the other flights and we landed smoothly in Nuremberg an hour later than scheduled.

Overall, I was very impressed with KLM Cityhopper and their Amsterdam hub. They made the journeys very easy and I would not hesitate to use them again even for a weekend. Keep it up!
