Taken November 2003 from Bristol to Tenerife South

This was a good LoCo, "no-frills service" flight with a high-standard crew. We were particularly impressed by the professional manner in which the senior flight attendant dealt with the indisposition of a passenger, which fortunately turned out to be minor. Spot on punctuality and reasonable comfort on board a very clean Airbus 320.

In spite of these positive comments we would not use this service again - the return flight was changed to arrive in London Gatwick. We were told that our LTE LoCo flight had departed - we had seen it leave - but it had been "down graded" and was full. We assumed this meant overbooked.

We had a very good flight to Gatwick with an alternative, full service carrier, but the coach, due to take our group of 15 passengers back to Bristol, only arrived at the airport two hours after we had landed. This was not the fault of the coach company or the driver, who had phoned in the cause of the delay with his ETA. However the Loco and CT2 Desks at Gatwick were "Temporarily" unattended, Airport Information had no information, and it was left to individual passengers, using mobile phones, to contact the coach company in Bristol, via Directory Enquiries.

Isn't it time that the overbooking of aircraft seats is made illegal and that carriers should risk losing their operating licence if in breach?
