Taken November 2003 from Tenerife Sur to London Gatwick

Our return flight from Tenerife started on one of those irritating busses that takes you 12 miles across the airport to where the aircraft is.

Travelling Monarch Plus again, we were seated in row 1 where there just happened to be a small LCD screen directly in front of us. The seats were once again as you'd expect from charter, but being at the front we definitely had more legroom.

Take-off was on-time and smooth as was most of the flight.

Between the start of descent and the final landing phase, the plane quite violently dropped from behind and veered to the left, which definitely shook the main flight attendant as she was reading out some sales blurb.

After this, an uneventful landing with no explanation for the bumps earlier so I assume that it was entirely normal (that's why flying freaks me out so much).

My only gripe with Monarch is the age of their aircraft. It appears that the plane we returned on (G-MONE) was almost 20 years old. I suppose that's just the way these things go. All the time I was hoping we would get the newer A330, but was later to read on here that the seats are extremely cramped on these new aircraft.
