Taken December 2003 from Tokyo, Narita - NRT to London, Heathrow - LHR

There are two flights a day from Narita to London Heathrow, we were on the second flight which was operated by a 777-200, which is a new type for JAL.

The new JAL Livery also looks good. The 777 seems quieter than the 747-400.

The seating was laid out in 3+3+3 configuration, which made it quite roomy,

necessary for a 12 hour flight. Each seat had a foot rest and "ears" on the

head rest that could be bent forwards to allow you to sleep.

This being a Thursday the plane was 60% full so I had 2 seats. The Magic

III entertainment system had video and audio on demand plus airport guides

and games (except chess) you could also access the downward and forward

looking cameras and the flight information. Only problem was that the play

function on my handset worked intermittently, the same was true of the seat

next to me.

JAL show the take off and landing on the cabin screens (character building

in bad weather!) however both were smooth. The cabin service was excellent

as usual many runs up and down the cabin with drinks. Food was also good

with a choice of Japanese or Western, the food trays themselves have a small

heating element to keep the food warm this is a good idea.

This was my third round trip with JAL only marred by Heathrow airport. The

next flight will be with Lufthansa I wonder how it will compare!
