Taken December 2003 from Buenos Aires, Jorge Newbery - AEP to San Claros de Bariloche - BRC

In 1985 I flew Aerolineas from Miami to Buenos Aires. They lost my luggage for three weeks and then went on strike delaying my trip home for a day. I swore I would never fly them again. However, to get from Buenos Aires to Bariloche, there are not many choices and so I flew them from the city airport, Jorge Newberry, to Bariloche. I was pleasantly surprised. The planes were well maintained 737-200s. The service was impeccable--two free drinks and a light snack on about a two hour flight. Announcements on this domestic flight were both in English and in Spanish. The flight from Buenos Aires to Bariloche left five minutes late and arrived 10 minutes early. Flight from Bariloche to Buenos Aries was almost exactly one hour late.

Although the check-in area for Jorge Newberry Ariport has a dumpy look, the floor of the airport from which boardings are done was beautiful--one of the nicest airport areas I have seen.

Is Aerolineas perfect? No. The wait to check in was incredibly long both ways. I estimate it was about 45 minutes for check in. And, on the way back to Buenos Aires, Aerolineas went on strike, delaying the plane for about one hour.

Much improved from my earlier experience, but still not perfect. Still, after nearly 20 years of refusing to fly them, I will fly them in the future.
