Taken July 2003 from London, Gatwick - LGW to Limnos

Arrived on time (06:00) but no flight details on monitor (due to depart 08:00). After going through security still no info, so had (and paid for) breakfast (07:00). At 09:00 £7.50 meal vouchers handed out although no details of likely delay - the monitor just had an 'update at 09:30' type message (Always suspicious of early meal vouchers, especially large ones).

Delays continued throughout the day with no information other than a limited amount that we got by hassling the agent. Update messages continued to change about every hour and a half - still no proper info until about 13:30 when they announced replacement planes would be arriving soon.

Eventually took off at around 16:30, the passengers split into two smaller planes. Our Martinair service was very good so I should be complimenting them.

The Flyjet flights out in the few days before ours to various locations (only 2 planes so easy to track) had been up to 14 hours late and 1 hour early!

The next week's flight out to Limnos was only 4 hours late, but ours after 2 weeks was dead on time. However, the lack of service on the flight was noticeable - the attendants couldn't (and didn't try to) control the kids running up and down the plane, but then didn't do any clearing up of trays etc until about 1½hours after the serving had finished.

Stairs at LGW took half an hour to arrive, but then the luggage took 1½ hours anyway, so it didn't really matter. As a previous reviewer said, Aviance were pretty useless.

Not a journey you'd want to repeat.
