This was the first leg of a flight from Heathrow to San Sebastian with Iberia. I had never travelled with them before and was looking forward to it. The take off was fast and powerful as is usual on the Boeing 757. Shortly after take off, the crew announced they would be serving Iberia´s new "Tu Menú" service which is a glorified way of saying if you want food or drinks, you pay for it! I was quite disappointed by this as it was now lunch time and I had been travelling since 5am. Had I known in advance, I would have bought something in the airport. Instead I got charged €9 for a plate of Spanish cold meats, a bottle of wine and a muffin. This was known as the "Menú Iberico" where you could choose whatever drink and sweet snack you wanted with the main dish. It tasted very good, but I was not very happy as my ticket had not been that cheap to start with. The flight itself was smooth, but it was basically impossible to go the toilet as the crew took nearly the whole flight serving food/drinks because it was more complicated with cash, credit cards etc. We landed early in to Madrid so I had about 2 hours to make my way to terminal 3 to catch my onward flight. Overall, a pleasant flight, but I do feel that still charging high cost airline prices, but using low cost airline practices is quite unfair. This is obviously the reason they are the most profitable flag carrier in Europe! | ||
