To get to Phoenix or Las Vegas from the east coast, America West is always worth taking a look at in terms of fares. I have traveled several times to their hubs (PHX and LAS) and am generally pleased with the value. It's a long flight out (~ 5 Hours) so I make sure I am on an Airbus with an entertainment system. I have also accepted bumps several times and received very reasonable compensation (ie, $400 flight voucher, meals, hotel, etc). The employees on the ground and in the air are generally nice enough, although they don't come close to the service and attitude shown by Southwest employees (Southwest begins service out of Philly in the near future which will no doubt drive down prices!) Lastly, America West's ff program charges only 15 thousand miles for short haul flights, a nice deal! |
