Taken May 2004 from London, Gatwick - LGW to Sharm el Sheik - SSH

An absolute disaster from start to finish.

The flight was due to leave at 12:55PM.

After booking everyone onto a plane that contained a different seating plan to the aircraft that was actually going to fly, 400 passengers were unloaded and reloaded manually.

The plane then taxied down to the runway, only for the pilot to inform us that a light had appeared in the cockpit that he wanted to check out. The plane then sat on the tarmac for at least half an hour until it turned back to the stand and all passengers were unloaded. Again.

At 9pm all passengers were recalled to the gate, to be told that the crew had arrived and food was being loaded. Also that everyone had to be checked on alphabetically.

An hour and a half later we were told the plane could then not take-off because of airport noise restrictions and everyone would be placed into hotels for the evening. By the time all baggage had been taken off the plane most people left the airport in the early hours of the morning.

We eventually took off at 12:55pm the next day. Ironically the flight was fast and smooth, and the plane comfortable. Just a shame so many people had to get delayed for 24 hours with such a shameful lack of information, after being herded around the terminal like cattle for the best part of 15 hours.
