Taken June 2004 from Johannesburg - JNB to London, Heathrow - LHR

I normally fly with British Airways to South Africa. This time however, due to the price I thought that I would give South African Airways a try. The outbound flight to Cape Town was very pleasant as there were only 100 people on the plane so I had a whole row of seats to myself. Service though was poor which I could not understand as there was virtually no one on the flight.

The flight home though, from Johannesburg, was awful. The flight was full this time which is pretty expected on all flights from Johannesburg to London. The seat was like sitting on a plank of wood and the legroom given shouldn't be allowed on a long haul flight. I had no chance of getting any sleep, luckily the in-flight entertainment on South African is good. The service was dreadful, had to get up and get drinks throughout the night as they did not want to come around. Serving of food took an age and all flight attendants were miserable.

Due to comfort levels I would never recommend this airline to anyone, it really was awful. I am comparing with British Airways here as I always find their seats to be comfortable and service is usually impeccable.
