Taken July 2004 from London, Gatwick - LGW to Mombassa - MBA

Both outward and inward flights were bang on time.

Staff at the check-in desks were very fussy about luggage weight. The total weight allowance, including hand luggage, for Economy Class passengers was 23kg. The hand luggage allowance of 3kg was strictly adhered to. On the outward flight, the staff let go a small amount of excess weight, but on the return journey they were very strict and charged £5/kilo for excess weight. To be fair to ASA, they did include a letter with the tickets about their baggage policy.

The food was pretty average, but drinks came round quite often. Soft drinks were free, but alcoholic drinks were not.

The duty free selection was pretty poor. Don't rely on buying duty free on board. The duty free prices at Mombasa airport are very reasonable.

The outbound is a night flight and so only one movie was played, but they showed two movies on the return flight. It's a 9 hour flight so take plenty of your own reading materials.

The cabin staff were very polite and smiled a lot. I got the impression that they were all non-English and hence only spoke basic English.

You get what you pay for so on the whole I believe I got value for money. I was lucky enough not to suffer any mishaps.

As long as you keep in mind their weight restrictions, then you shoud not have any problems.
