Overall, the cabin was spotlessly clean and well maintained, but the space between seats on the A321 in full-economy layout is tighter than I had remembered after numerous flights to Malaga with BA/GB Airways from Gatwick. Monarch has changed its on-board service to a pay-as-you-go system and in doing so, has come up with one of the best ways of administering such a programme. A menu is available on boarding showing what snacks and meals will be available on the flight. For those passengers who booked before the change was announced, they had vouchers to pay for meals, but otherwise you could pay £4 for the normal airline breakfast or £2.50 for a light option (or go hungry if you wished). Chose the full £4 option, which was fine. They also appeared to have plenty of stock of meals (unlike my return flight with Britannia) to avoid running out. Only criticism on the service was a small point - I wish cabin crew wouldn't wedge plastic glasses in between the ring pull of cans when serving as it just cracks the glass and you have to ask for another one which is a pointless waste of an item which presumably doesn't get recycled. | ||
