Taken July 2004 from Brussels - BRU to Berlin, Tempelhof - THF

This was the second sector of a day round trip from Bristol to Berlin. The worst part of the journey was getting to the gate. My connecting flight from Bristol was late and parked on a remote stand at the opposite side of the airport from the gate the Berlin flight was using. After the bus took us to the terminal I had to rush all the way (including through Passport Control and Security) and just reached the gate in time as the flight was boarding. I was grateful I had my boarding card and only had hand luggage as I am sure hold luggage wouldn't have made the tight connection. Free bar service and a fruit slice with pleasant cabin crew made the flight itself go smoothly. This flight ran to time. Berlin's Templehof Airport was absolutely deserted when we arrived - it is, but a shadow of its former self and is due to close later this year. It must be almost unique in that you disembark under a canopy which runs the whole length of the terminal building. The terminal itself has changed little over the past 50 years and its quietness made using the airport a stress-free experience.
