Home > Futura > ReviewTaken August 2004 from Dublin - DUB to Reus - REUOur outbound flight was due to leave at 6:00 am, so my family and I had a few hours to kill in an empty airport terminal, with no shops open. Then I watched out the window at our plane being checked over and fueled up, with loads of men in aluminous outfits. It was so interesting! I was amazed at how efficiently they did their jobs and how well they seemed to do it. Then the plane started to board at 5:30am (the first time I have flown with Futura and they left on time) and it didn't feel like I was waiting for ages at the airport! It was great. I also felt a lot safer about flying out because of all the checks the guys outside had done. The aircraft was brand new and had blue leather seats, but if I am completely honest they weren't very comfortable! (The fact that I was sitting right in front of the emergency exit over the wing and the seats were quite literally vertical and had no recline may have contributed to the lack of comfort). This was also quite irritating as I had no sleep the night before, due to travel (as I live quite a distance from Dublin airport) but I do understand that safety must come first. The seats did however look lovely and I liked the colour of them. It was also the first plane that I had ever been on with in-flight entertainment, I had heard my friends talk about how good it is, and it was great to experience it for myself. I had also flown with Futura previously and they didn't have this technology so I think it was a great improvement and upgrade! We got to watch the safety procedures on the screen (which is a good Idea, as maybe people will pay more attention to it) Britney and Madonna, father ted, friends etc. I was very impressed by how good the shows were, the only minor complaint about the entertainment, is that we were seated directly beneath a tv and the shows were in negative. The take off was very smooth and we had this really cool American pilot who was very good at his job he was pleasant and kept us informed of how high we were, how fast we were going, where we were etc. We got breakfast in the plane and it was just OK pretty tasteless, it was ham in a roll and cheese in a roll. The Flight attendants weren't friendly at all, they just talked to Spanish to each other and only spoke English to us when it was highly necessary, and they didn't smile much either. We had a really smooth landing at reus also, I really did like the pilot, I don't know what it was about him he just did everything so well! The last time I flew with Futura to Mahon the pilot just mumbled something at the start of the flight, and that's it for the whole journey and then hits the runway quite hard. When we all got off the plane down steps and walked towards Reus airport I noticed how clean the aircraft was it was gleaming it shone in the sun! I had an extremely pleasant flight to Reus. The return flight also boarded half an hour early I was very impressed. The plane was very old, though it was called..Trans-global?, but it had the Futura symbol on the tail, it was weird! The wings were also very strange they had huge big things sticking up from the ends with the Futura symbol on them, the aircraft was very dirty on the outside. When we entered the plane I knew it wasn't the new plane the seats had horrible stripy covers on them, and the odd seat would have a different cover on it! (where a seat cover had been replaced or something) but the seats were much more comfortable that the leather ones! The pilot was Spanish and I was gutted that it wasn't the American guy again! But I didn't really mind that much. There was no entertainment, and the flight attendants had to do the safety procedure example themselves. When the plane went to full throttle, it shuck like mad and the wings bobbed up and down, they never did that on the outbound flight. I didn't feel as safe as I did. I felt like the plane could fall apart. There was one male flight attendant an he was extremely friendly, and the females.. well were a little bit more friendly than they were on the outbound flight.
