Taken August 2004 from Bangkok - BKK to Amsterdam, Schiphol - AMS
Long flight, first from BKK to KUL, then a connecting time of about 3 hours before the onward flight to AMS. I agree with most posters that this airline has great inflight service and genuine smiles. However, as a single passenger, I have noticed time and time again that they disregard my confirmed seating arrangements. I always ask for a window seat, which was allocated in BKK (I had the actual boarding pass from KUL to AMS already), then at the gate in KUL they issue me with another boarding pass without any explanation and yes, of course a seat in the middle of the plane. I think this is bad practice. It's discrimination of the single passenger in favour of families or groups travelling together and who never even bother to look outside the window. Shame. THis is not just a Malaysia problem, it happened to me at Singapore too. This seems to be an Asian thing. This has never happened to me on KLM or any other European airline. Great airline, but no discrimination of single travellers please, especially if the seat was requested right from the beginning. |
