I happened across the Zoom website by accident, looking for cheap flights to Canada, without too much success. The average seemed to be £600 or so for a direct flight, £400ish if we were prepared for a long stopover at a connecting airport. I was astonished at the low prices Zoom were charging for our planned departure dates and mailed the rest of my party a link to the website, asking them to have a look at it just to confirm that it really DID look that good. They gave it the thumbs-up so I took the plunge and booked tickets. We paid £139 each way for flights from London Gatwick to Ottawa and decided to upgrade to Premium Economy for an extra £49 each person each way. This was money well spent - it bought us extra legroom (35" seat pitch), extra baggage allowance (30 kg) and a 90 minute check-in. The booking facility on the Zoom website is excellent, user friendly, and allowed us to actually book dedicated seats for both legs of the journey, so there was no check-in lottery for seats on the day of our journey. I had some queries and emailed Zoom customer services - they responded back promptly and were very helpful.

Given the incredibly cheap price I couldn't really believe that we were going to get a high quality service, but I was totally wrong. Everything about the flights and the service from Zoom was excellent. The legroom in Premium Economy was incredibly roomy, the cabin crew were all very friendly and attentive, and I've been recommending Zoom like crazy to all my Canadian relatives for their planned trips over here (they hadn't heard of the airline). I should also mention that both flights were bang on time - in fact our arrival back into the UK landed 30 minutes early!

It makes you wonder why other airlines charge such high prices when Zoom can offer such a good service so cheaply. I hope Zoom do very well and establish a firm customer base in this country.
