Taken October 2004 from Bangkok (Don Muang International Airport) - BKK to Hong Kong, Chek Lap Kok - HKG2

Bangkok - Hong Kong, Business Class, October 14, 2004.

This route is flown by no less than 11 carriers, including some good service heavyweights such as Cathay Pacific and Thai. Very few airlines offer First Class, so Business is the best level of service available in most cases.

Finnair succeeds in delivering a top notch product, with an excellent complete meal on a 2 1/2 hours sector (Swiss... make a note of this..), and a truly amazing wine list (The last time I saw a Sauternes offered was on the now defunct AF Concorde service to New York, and Finnair's is a Premier Cru). Seating is comfortable, though the pitch is quite average, but new fully reclining beds will arrive in 2005. Flight attendants are ever present, IFE is good, and the service is overall excellent.

While 4 airlines depart on this route within a 1 hour period at a non-peak time (2 pm), Finnair's business class cabin fills up with locals (very few passengers appear to be in transit from Helsinki), no doubt a tribute to the airline's level of service.
