Taken October 2004 from Manchester, England (Ringway International Airport) - MAN to Larnaca - LCA
It is many years since I last flew, and this was the first flight for my wife. We have been across the water many times, but always by ferry. The journey from Manchester left a few minutes late, and we travelled in a 757 Finn Air aircraft. The cabin crew were very pleasant and attentive. I found the pop down screens giving journey information very interesting and was disappointed when this was interupted by the movies, although my wife was quite pleased ! The meal we had was palatable, hot and very welcome. The flight was uneventful, and as we travelled in daylight, my wife surprisingly enjoyed the view afforded by her window seat. We arrived in Larnaca four minutes early, to be kept waiting almost an hour for our cases! The return journey was in an Air Scandic Airbus 300, huge by comparison to the 757. The cabin crew were equally as attentive and carried out their duties in a very pleasant manner, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our meal was again, the obligatory chicken meal, and although one often hears caustic comments about in flight food, I don't think there was much waste going back to the kitchen. We were thirty five minutes late leaving Larnaca, and the captain had to battle an apparent strong head wind, which added a little time to our flight home. On arrival at Manchester the weather was filthy, very windy, and lashing rain, but that massive aircraft was put down with only a suggestion of a bump. My wife and I would have no hesitation in flying again with Air Scandic. |
