Taken December 2004 from Birmingham, England - BHX to Brussels (Bruxelles) (National/Zaventem) - BRU

The outbound flight was slightly late pushing back (as it was full, and had a lot of people to load), but arrived on time. The aircraft used was an Avro RJ100, but with five abreast seating which meant that the seats weren't too narrow like with British Airways's RJ100s. The crew were polite, efficient and seemed keen to do a good job. Catering consisted of coffee or tea plus another cold drink, and a box containing a tub of mineral water and a slice of apple pie. After this, chocolates were handed out. A very nice flight, only spoiled at the end by baggage problems at Brussels which meant that my bag arrived within twenty minutes, but the bags of about twenty people on the flight, including my partner's, didn't turn up for another half hour. Not SN Brussels's fault though.

On the return leg was an Airbus A319, which was nice and spacious although, unlike the busy outbound flight, was barely a quarter full. The flight departed slightly early as everyone was on board and arrived early, and the catering was pretty much as before (except that the apple pie was replaced by a chicken salad sandwich - no-one was asked if they wanted a vegetarian option, so presumably these would have to be booked in advance). The crew, although doing everything by the book, appeared a little disinterested (possibly because it was the last flight of the day and the aircraft was fairly empty).

Overall, quite reasonably priced, and I would be happy to use them again.
