Faults:

I have had to replace the starter, and the fly wheel. When I did this I also replaced the clutch as it was going anyhow, and replaced some seals on the transmission. This was done at around 100K miles. The dealer did the work very reasonably and quickly. I have also replaced some minor parts in the interior to make the car perfect inside.

General Comments:

I love this car, it makes me smile every time I climb in.

I find that the NA engine has plenty of power and goes well with the 5 speed for spirited driving and cruising.

There is a lot of room in the car, considering it is a roadster.

I am happy I picked this rare car over every other comparable roadster in the era and price range; much better than Miata, Z3, and Mercedes SLK.

Faults:

When I first bought the car it had a few problems that were later rectified by the dealer.

Knock sensors were faulty causing the engine to have a rough idle and lack of power at low revs. ($AUS1,200)

Unbalanced tail shaft, cause vibration through drivetrain. ($AUS800)

Replaced shockers and about to have new brake pads put on.

General Comments:

I had never driven a sports car before and only owned older cars before, so I was surprised how bumpy the ride was and how noisy the car is inside especially when its wet. I actually look out for and avoid driving over manholes covers and bumps in the road now.

Wish I had a auto! You can't relax behind the wheel with a manual

Apart from those few initial problems my car is in terrific shape, thanks to the original owner. I love driving the ZX and find it a very exciting car.

Faults:

Since I have recently got the car not much is wrong with it. The rear suspension needed to be replaced, but the former owner took care of that... plus anybody that has driven on the roads in Costa Rica know that it is hardest on the suspension.

The drivers side leather seat is starting to wear.

General Comments:

I have had the car for a couple days and I must say I am impressed. I have been looking for decent used sports car and have tested everything from the BMW Z3 to a Porsche 928 but I settled on the 300ZX 2+2. A couple things that really attracted me to this car was the fact that there was only one original owner and he took care of the car. That was until I test drove it...wow, sure it didn't have the power of the Porsche which had a 5 liter engine with 300HP. But its ability to zip through traffic (which is heavy in this country) was impressive. I was powerful enough to pass any slow moving traffic, but not too much that I am worried about going into the next over pass at 100MPH.

The handling of the car is like anybody that reviews, this car was built for the road! It is like you become one with the vehichle (How Zen sounding is that?) I like the sight lines on the car, I can see everything that I need to see and am not compromised on any angle (sure there are blind spots, but show me a car where there isn't). Avoiding pot holes is a easy (hey they could make it a motorsport here). Corners on rails? I will have to say "Yeah, baby!"

The instrument panel is seriously made for the driver (much to my girlfriends dismay... I AM MASTER OF THE A/C!!) the stereo could be a little closer, but when I replace it with the DVD/LCD panel, I think that it will be sharp and just right. I just have one real complaint... Why is the clock behind the gear shifter, What time is it!!!
