1996 Chevrolet Malibu LS review from North America
"Too dangerous and expensive to own and maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator and battery had to be replaced at 68,000 miles.
Fan speed switch stopped working on speeds 1 & 2.
Car sometimes wouldn't start or would stall right after starting.
Anti-theft system malfunctioned causing a 10 minute delay.
ABS light would come on on occasion
3 out of 4 tires went out-of-round somehow.
Intake manifold gasket leak occurred around 114,000 miles.
Hydro pulleys went bad at 133,000 miles.
Fuel pump died at 137,000 miles.
Brakes needed replacement about every 20,000 miles.
General comments?
In my opinion, the cost of maintaining and repairing the car just isn't worth owning it.
It is a comfortable riding car when it is actually running and not in the shop.
