1992 Peugeot 605 SLI review from Norway
"Extreme comfort and road handling for a cheap price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Upper shock absorber bearings both sides starts to go bad now, needs replacement soon.
Stabilizer bar linkage arms (?) replaced 2 times on both sides.
Brake shield rear, this serves as a mounting point for the e-brake shoes, and this mounting point rusts away over time.
E-Brake wires..
Water pump, and one cooling water hose.
Valve oil seals, these are getting stiff when the engine gets old, an the engine starts to burn oil. After I replaced these, it got now oil consumption at all!!!
Other than this, noting special except for regular service parts like brake pads, brake disks an some bushings here and there.
General comments?
Great value for the money when you buy the car used, especially here in Norway where cars have the highest prices in the world due to excessive taxes from our government...
Have got the car for over 3 years now, and it is my daily driver. Very roomy and comfortable, huuuge trunk. Used it a lot on long drives to the Norwegian mountains for snowboarding, great for long trips on roads with bad surface/snow/ice and lots of twist an turns. Great undercarriage, very good roadhandling for a car this size. Not a sportscar, but it is fairly quick with the 122 bhp 2.0 engine. Pretty good low end torque, good for hauling trailers.
All in all, the best car buy I have ever done! Very reliable, and VERY comfortable to the price...
