1998 Ford Escort zx2 review from North America
"The most dependable car I think I ever drove"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
No, I disagree with some of the comments made about the 98 Escort zx2 or similar close by years, for 1 I bought the car because of good consumer reports reports and I have been driving the car the last 4 years and have'nt been babying it totally, but do the routine maintenance probably a little off schedule and the only things I have had to fix are the rotors and pads twice (that's a given) and new tires going on the second time, the alternator, and the tirerods and ball bearings (car has been in 4 accidents not too major, but its held up pretty good). I bought it at 70,000 miles and for the most part the only problems that have arrissed are from my misfortune, and ya, the AC has never worked in it since I got it, but that's not a big deal for me, I prefer to roll with the windows down in the hot months, I live in Minnesota for christs sake, I come from a chevy family and this thing sorry dad to say has'nt caused me as many problems as any of my chevs have, the only other car I ever owned other than this that was comparable in dependability was a 1994 honda civic.
