1997 Dodge Intrepid ES review from North America
"Reliable tank"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brake Caliper Came off.
Rack and Pinion Steering.
Transmission on the way out.
The first Problem was the brakes. luckily i was in an autotech class, so fixing it wasnt to expensive. my front brake caliper came off while i was driving to school with my little brother in the car. it wasnt the cars fault, the previous mechanic put the wrong bolts in the caliper so it stripped the caliper. i fixed that the same day in class. next i noticed i could turn my wheel almost a quarter turn in any direction without the car moving. i drove like this for about a month, then found the money to get it fixed. now the car just revs up most of the time when i press the gas. im not too ruff on her, but im not the most gentle driver. she goes when she is needed. i dont have the money to fix the transmission.....so its time to move on.
General comments?
all in all, she got me through almost 3 years now, and i only payed 1500 dollars for the car.
This car is a tank. my friends called me the general because of my metal car. even though it has plenty of problems to go around, it always starts up when I turn the key, and goes (eventually) when I press the gas.
oh, and now i only get about 10 to 12 miles to the gallon........i think that might have to do with the transmission
