1984 Volvo 740 GLE review from Poland

Battery had no charge, replaced myself... ~$70.

Clutch line and tire broke (separate occasions) in traffic right after I bought it.

Car runs on propane (lpg) right now due to non-functional fuel pump, and a little diaphragm/fuse pops out on the intake manifold every week or so causing the engine to cut off when I'm driving about 80 kph (50mph) on Polish Roads... not Volvo's fault, but previous owners...

I bought this car for about 350 dollars not expecting it to run more than two weeks. It lasted 3 weeks before it broke down and I needed to pay another 2-300 for new tires, clutch cable and oil change. So far, nothing besides the diaphragm popping out every week has gone bad, its dangerous, but hey it is 23 years old (2.5 years older than me!) I can safely say that this car is far to big for Poland, even though it is safe. I am surprised the car starts every morning to be honest, I've only had problems in the winter, but it wasn't a cold winter so the car drove on. This car looks like hell, drives like hell, but when I look over to the person next to me and see that they spent much more money on their car compared to me I'm glad that I've only had to spend $600 on my transportation versus $1000-$100000. The engine is scary, the car is scary, but it runs and drives so I'm happy... Viva Old Brick Volvo's!
