1997 Proton Putra review from Malaysia
"Good combination of perfomance and looks"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
As is synonymous with Protons (yes, even the more expensive ones), quality is below par.
Fuel gauge is faulty, inferior dashboard build quality, alarm system defeat button mysteriously not connected etc. Minor they may be but they still add to an overall bad impression. Ride is a tad rough too.
General comments?
Despite some faults described above, this car is a blast to drive. Just about the most horsepower you can get for the buck is the primary reason. Even with a slushbox auto tranny, torque seems way adequate and power seems readily available at almost any revs. Engine is quiet, powerful and economical even!
