2006 Chevrolet HHR 1LT review from North America

"The new king of retro "HHR yes, PT no""

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had this car for a short time and it is new, so nothing has gone wrong.

General comments?

I love the way the HHR looks overall, it really puts me off how so many car critics have slammed the HHR and put it in the shadow of the PT Loser, ooops sorry Cruiser.

O.k it was designed by the same person, but it clearly stands alone, the critics need to spend more time behind the wheel and give this car a chance, rather than drive it 10 miles and call it junk, well nuff said about that.

What I like is the way the interior is laid out and the window buttons in the center panel have not been a problem for me as so many others have said, true the car is a little slow off the line, but when it hits 2nd gear its gone.

The ride is also excellent for a smaller car, the HHR feels like a sports car and rides like a limo. The steering is very nimble and instrument panel is very bright and easy to read, and looks great at night.

The extras have not been over done, but just enough retro is added to modern.

I have had 4 persons in this car, 2 of whom were large people, and we were all very comfortable.

I found it very funny the other day when I was driving to see a man in a PT Cruiser almost break his neck looking at my HHR 1LT as I drove by.

My wife and I have yet to find anything we don't like, this car is going to be around a while, and it won't always stand in the PT's shadow.

All over the net this car is being called the me too cruiser, all I have to say to that is "when I say I want a HHR and not a PT... all of the people will say... me too".

Oh, and by the way, the HHR has achieved in 1 year what it took PT 7 years to do, have a following so faithful that they now have organized HHR clubs.

And so to my fellow HHR owner brethren "I'll see you on the open road".
