1995 Buick Century review from North America
"It's been an awesome car thus far, and for the price You Can't beat it!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had to purchase a new rear drum, not due to wear, but a previous owners mistake. The Alternator also seems to have been replaced a couple years ago.
Front Window motors are worn out, They will roll up in down painstakingly slow.
AC had to be recharged, after a can and half of freon she was COLD.
General comments?
Let me start this review off by saying, I was never fond of this kind of car in the least. I always thought 80s-90s GM little-Sedans were some God Awful ugly cars.
I've been a big fan of GM vehicles, mostly Chevy, Oldsmobile and Buick.
Prior to this century my only other newer vehicle is a 99 suburban, everything else is 77 and earlier.
Anyways, The car was purchased for $300 cash in the middle of a rainy night, It had 186-187k miles on the odometer. at the time everything worked, but the windows, radio and the AC blew, but Not cool what so ever.
It also had recently had a blow out and the previous owner replaced the bad wheel with a spare off a different lug pattern vehicle, the driver side rear wheel was barely held on by 3 lug nuts with barely 1/4" of stud in them.
The car did make it 70 miles home, and even had it up to 80 for a couple short jaunts.
The overall performance of this high mileage abused car is adequate. I'd say its comparable to my wife's old 3.0l 2000 taurus.
Anyways, as of today about 2 months after purchasing the car it has 191,000 miles on it.. that's 5,000 or more miles in a couple months on a dirt cheap beater..
With no serious problems. This alone wins huge points in my book.
I purchased the car for 300,
Complete front bumper from pick-n-pull for $40
New Rear Drums and pads just under $55
Can and half of some freon I had laying arround $10
Some new fuses and the radio worked $0
new headlights from walmart $12
Had local tire shop swap arround used tires $20.
We're looking at just under 450 bucks for a running driving car with cold Ac, she never smokes no odd noises or running driving quirks either.
Another note, the front bumper did not have to be replaced was just kind of ragged.
I don't know too much about the previous owner's maintenance or the vehicles repairs, the alternator does have paint pen marks on it from a junkyard with a date; That's the extent of the car's repair history I'm aware of.
The car did come with a WHOLE trunk FULL of empty beer bottles, The carpet was also COVERED in what seems to have been beer and vommit..
I'm still waiting to get some carpet back in the car..
Lotsa work was put into the car removing the smell (S)..
But! All in All! I got my a cheap work car with AC.
Life is Good.
Good job lil Buick Good Job.
